Simple Entertaining Doesn't Exist -- Books & Online Resources

My favorite info on entertaining so far has been Swell: A Girl's Guide to the Good Life by Cynthia Rowley and Ilene Rosenzweig. I'll warn you in advance, this book is written for people with so much money that they have the luxury of being quirky and talks about a lot more than entertaining, but there's fun stuff in there too, so don't despair.

If you're really interested in the basics of entertaining, I recommend Simplify Entertaining. It's written by a couple of professional event planners, so beware of the "hire it out" mentality.

My favorite entertaining site, GreatEntertaining.com is gone. How sad. There's a couple other places with "resources" but it's nothing that quite compares. These are:

Pillsbury Mealtime Ideas: Gatherings

Cocktail Times

Perfect Entertaining

Entertaining 101, According to Martha Stewart
(Take with a grain of salt, PLEASE!)

Make Ahead Meals at iVillage

(I'm still looking for that perfect "Decorating for Entertaining Book, but it doesn't yet exist. If you've found one that you like, lemme know!)
